Micah6vs8 you seem to have a wealth of info on shows, so could you inform me on a show I saw. It was the GB at the Cotati Theater in either Marin or Sonoma counties and I believe it was my last time. Also, one weird benifit
show they played aboard the Green Peace ship The Rainbow
Warrior at dock in S.F. This boat was to be sunk by the French who considered Greenpeace a royal pain. One person died and the agents were busted.I have great memories of these shows but no idea when the occured.About So What, your right , ther'e better at bluegrass and folk from were they came, but it was a nice surprise to hear something a little different albeit not enough of it. Thanks ....LW

I believe the "eco-terrorist" benefit show you are refering to was performed on 8/12/77. And the French were certainly justified in sinking that vessel!

All the info you seek is here:

CH- I was at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme yesterday ( where Lime Disease comes from everyone !) , and there were 3 to 4 foot waves with dirty spewed up water coming in . Really high waves for the bathtub that is Long Island Sound .
Did Igor cancel any shark fishing ?

Cliff, I just reread your reply and I'm horrified that you think the French were justified in sinking an unarmed vessel. It goes against any known convention of war and the French were not at war at the time. What Greenpeace was trying to prevent was an air burst hydrogen bomb test.As history tells we bailed the French out the shit many times,
what ever did the French do for you....LW

Greenpeace is an eco-terrorost organization with a corrupt agenda and a criminal methodology. They are really no different from Somalian pirates whose motives are purely financial.

And the French?

Well, they will always be there when they need us...

Eco-Terrorist is a bullshit label used by the right wing media and their cronies to discredit environemental activists and to take away the focus from their own destruction of the planet's ecosystems. Terrorists kill people, how many people has Greepeace killed? None.

Hal, I think Cliff is indulging in what we call a 'wind-up' to get a reaction. No intelligent person could believe that peaceful demonstrations in support of wildlife and environment can be equated with the activities the Red Brigades or Al Qaeda.

Facinating footage of Greenpeace "pirates" from the vessel Sea Shepard attempting to disrupt Spanish and French tuna seiners lawfully harvesting Bluefin Tuna in the Mediterranean Sea. I am particularly entertained by the segment where one of the "eco-terrorists" is accidentally impaled in the calf by a grappling hook thrown by a French deck hand trying to puncture the attacking pirates rigid-inflatable boats...

Interesting footage of Greenpeace "pirates" from the vessel Steve Irwin attacking a Japanese whaling vessel lawfully harvesting cetaceans in the South Pacific. Three Japanese whalers were injured by the eco-terrorists launching acid bombs...

Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace are two different organizations.
Sea Shepherd is not a Greenpeace ship. Steve Irwin is a Sea Sheperd ship, not a Greenpeace one. The two groups don't work together much. Sea Shepherd was formed because Greenpeace was too soft for Paul Watson who then founded Sea Shepherd. Sea Shepherd probably wouldn't be too offended by the term pirate, Greenpeace would be.

Exactly right. The Sea Sheperds were founded by people who didn't think that Greeenpeace was militant enough. You can't compare the Sierra Club with those radical Earth First sabateurs in northern California either.

The Weather Underground was created after a split in the leadership of the SDS. The Bill Ayers faction took up arms and declared war on the US Government; yet 99% of the anti-Vietnam War protesters didn't become terrorists.

The French blew up the Rainbow Warrior many years ago and killed the cook in doing it. The new Sea Sheperds vessel is named in honor of TV game show host, Bob Barker...

Thank you for the clarification!

Here is more interesting footage of Greenpeace "eco-terrorists" sabotaging lawfully captured and ranched Bluefin Tuna off of Malta. I'm not sure Jer would approve of this criminal activity...

3-4 foot waves in Connecticut?

Was anyone surfing?

The giant swells closed out the inlet here, I have not been fishing in over a week. Though, boats that have ventured out have been scoring tuna.

I will be fishing on Friday. Anyone who would like to join me is welcome!

Yeah , one of my sons is 4'4" and he was terrified at first b/c he's really only been to Misquamicut for waves . When he mustered the courage they were up to his upper chest a good amount . Once over his head , but I had him . And this beach is sheltered . We were there with my mom and she couldn't ever recall seeing waves like that there . Lord , there was white water and an undertow . My kids loved body surfing , as much as a child can with 3-4' waves .

fyi , for those elsewhere , this body of water is literally like a bath tub 98% of the time . Maybe a higher % then that .

Not exactly, I'm positive it was a form of the Garcia Band. I think Nicky Hopkins was gone so it must of been Merle Saunders on keys and I tkink Ron Tutt was also gone. As for THE COTATI INN ,I never saw Jerry there but did catch David Bromberg at the place and was fantastic.Does somebody know of the ship board performance I talked about earlier.BTW I also caught all variations of the GJB from
Winterland to all the Keystone clubs in the area plus the other shows already mentioned. The gig aboard THE RAINBOW WARRIOR just stands out to me both as a benefit and an odd place to play.. Thanks again for the response ,and I hope
the posts are making more sense....LW

lw , GB -> GD ? , GB -> Garcia /Grisman ?

Even if I was sure of the above that would be a tough find . If you could clarify who you saw , we can at least get a search going .

DeadBase can make one appear so smart . I know my GD , but there are some real scholars here .
